Biographical / Historical
The Old Dominion University (ODU) Gay Alliance was organizaed in November 1976 to provide alternative social programs for gay members of the ODU community, and to work for gay civil rights. The organization was open to students, faculty, staff, and alumni of ODU. The Gay Alliance not only organized events at ODU but also partnered with the local community on events such as the Tidewater Lesbian/Gay Conferences held in the 1970s and early 1980s. The organization became less active and eventually was disbanded in the early 1980s.
