Scope and Contents
This collection contains administrative records as well as linguistic research pertaining to the Department of English at Old Dominion University. In addition to reports, newsletters, and correspondence from the department, research related to the linguistics of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia are also included.

Biographical or Historical Information
The English Department is the largest department within the College of Arts and Letters at Old Dominion University. Undergraduate and graduate courses prepare students for a range of professions in writing, journalism, analytic fields, linguistics, and teaching. The English Department offers services for students and alumni including literary contests, publications and the Writing Center, formerly known as the Writing Tutorial Service.

The collection is arranged into two series. Series I:, Administrative and Course Material, and Series II, Linguistic Research.
